Hi. I’m Susan Cunningham, and I set up Perfect Prose Services in 2014. I live near Glasgow, Scotland and since starting my business, I have edited and proofread novels, novellas, short stories and non-fiction books. I am also an author under the name Susan Buchanan and have four novels published with books five and six in the works.

I have helped dozens of authors and writers polish their work to make it shine and stand out from the competition. Some have gone on to be nominated for awards (and that makes me feel every inch the proud mamma!).

I have had the privilege to work on various series and really become invested in the characters, with one series being over one million words!

I edit and proofread both fiction and non-fiction. To date, I have worked on the following fiction genres and sub-genres: fantasy, YA fantasy, urban fantasy, magical realism, dystopian fiction, science fiction, thriller, political thriller, suspense, horror, historical fiction, romance, paranormal romance and children’s fiction.

My non-fiction editing has included memoir, travel memoir, travel articles, self-help guides, technical manuals  and business reports.

With regards to my linguistics background, I hold an MA in French and Hispanic Studies from the University of Glasgow and am also fluent in Italian.

A voracious reader, a stickler for correct spelling and grammar, a wordsmith, a linguist, and an author, I am the best possible person to proofread, edit or translate your work.

Whether you are looking for a full developmental edit and you need help with character arcs, outlines and plot development, or you’re looking for a line-by-line copy-edit, where I drill down to the bones of each sentence, or you need a final proofread, I have a service for you.

Should you need your work translated, please get in touch and we can discuss your requirements.
